KEFA started as the Korea Education Frontier Association (KEFA), which was founded in 2001 as an organization under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea. Since then, we have carried out a wide range of projects and activities including the EdTech Fair & Forum, the e-ICON Contest, ODA projects for digital education, and training programs for the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education as part of our efforts to promote the use of ICT in different learning settings in schools across the globe.
In the last few years, the word "virtual" has become part of our everyday vocabulary mostly due to COVID-19. All areas of our society are rapidly changing; so fast that the term the "4th industrial revolution" now sounds like a concept from the past. In particular, the education sector saw fast development of online remote learning.
Against this backdrop, we wanted to build on our achievements of over two decades and renew our identity to reflect the changing environment, which led to the decision to rename the organization to the Korea Digital Education Frontiers Association.
The Korea Digital Education Frontiers Association is committed to promoting digital education and becoming a pioneer and facilitator that connects schools and industries.
With a renewed focus, we will faithfully fulfill our role as a bridge between government agencies including the Ministry of Education, regional Education Offices, KERIS, schools, and the edtech industry, ultimately promoting the use of ICT in different education settings, thereby contributing to educational innovation, human resources development, and the growth of relevant industries.
Korea's e-learning market has shown exponential quantitative growth in the last few years. However, such growth was largely due to specific circumstances, namely COVID-19.
As a result, the KEFA must double its efforts to continue the growth momentum and promote quantitative growth of the e-learning industry to ensure that diverse technologies and products are used to facilitate education across schools.
At this critical juncture, we will muster all our capabilities, so we can effectively support our member companies in entering not only Korea's e-learning market but also international markets, leveraging the know-hows and expertise accumulated throughout the last two decades.
Thank you.
Korea Digital Education Frontiers Association
